Car crash killer charged

A 26 year old Cork man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death in connection with the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N17 on the 8th of April this year.

Sean Casey, from Corragannive, Skibbereen was brought before Clonakilty District Court at 10.30 this morning.

The car lost control on the Skibbereen bypass and crashed into a metal electricity supply pole.

Megan Johnston, a 22 year old UCC student who was a passenger in the car, died following the collision.

Four others, who were also travelling in the car, were injured and taken to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accused was returned for trial at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
